The Rules of Puns

  1. If there is a pun, that was intentional.
  2. If there is not a pun, that was also intentional.
  3. Parenthetical declarations of intentionality serve no purpose but to exclaim “Hey! I just made a pun!” This implies the reader wouldn’t notice, insulting them and negating any humor the pun might otherwise have had.
  4. Negative humor is possible.

I miss you. There is no pun at all here! I miss you.
