the basics of financial self-sufficiency

I just saw a moderately engaging presentation on why, instead of buying a new car with a loan every few years, it’s better to save some money and buy used cars for cash. It’s nothing revolutionary, but I can’t help but wonder: how are people surviving if this is new information for them? What sort of idiot parents do not instill this stuff right alongside the instructions about not eating paste or napping in the clothes dryer?

It remains difficult to keep a good opinion of the average human.

Peter, it is the strangest thing, but reading between the lines, I think I detected a compliment on your financial upbringing. Thank you!

You’re right; it’s there. Really, I guess I need to thank you for teaching me right.
