Life Update

I am in the midst of new romance. I’ve been dating this girl for a month now, and things are going very well. It’s all very exciting: in the Grand Planned Schedule Of My Life, this is right around the time I’d expect to find someone to settle down with permanently. I’m not rushing into anything; both of us are certain to have flaws which will only make their appearance after we’ve grown comfortable with each other and our relationship. Still, with each good date, with each fun conversation, with each comfortable touch, I get a little more excited that I have met and am wooing an awesome woman.

She flies to the US in nine hours to stay there for three weeks’ vacation: an annual benefit of her job. My heart’s going with her.

The only real job news right now is that I am currently the good student. The Army, whenever possible, trains flight students in pairs; this habit extends to Green Platoon. This pairing leads naturally to comparison between us, particularly given the inherent competitiveness inherent in everyone in the Army. My fellow student right now is a great guy: he’s more friendly, more approachable, and more responsible than I am. However, once we get into the cockpit, I’m the better pilot, and for GP, that’s all that matters. It makes life good for me.

Between those two factors, life right now is excellent. There are always annoyances if I look for them: when I go to work in the morning I don’t know if the day will last 4 hours or 14; last week as part of a base beautification program the installation commander had someone cut my lock and steal my bicycle (and every other one on the bike racks) and I still haven’t jumped the hoops to get it back. Honestly, though, right now those things aren’t even registering. Somehow between professional satisfaction and personal joy the downer signals are just getting completely drowned out.
