yet another misc. link

Ok, so I shamelessly stole the acronym which more properly belongs to another interesting data serialization library. Even so, there’s recently been a lot of good stuff floating around the web which I feel you would appreciate having your attention directed to.

For example: perhaps you’ve seen the ads showing a businessman relaxing in a recliner in front of a large screen wall mounted television, which advertise the private suites available on the UAE’s new jets? Maybe it’s just me; for whatever reason, marketing firms seem to think I’m the type of person who’d pay four months’ salary for a first class flight to the middle east. I’m content to wait for the government to pay for a similar flight at no cost to me. Anyhow, they gave a demo flight in such suites to reviewers. Presumably this is to inspire viral marketing efforts which should eventually reach people who can afford such luxuries.

For the rest of us, who count things like gas expenses as more than pocket change, someone ran the numbers on Obama’s assertion that full tires and car tuneups could save more gas than offshore drilling. Guess what? Obama was right.
