When leaving Japan, I sold off my monitor. This was a bit of a gamble, but I knew that it would be expensive to ship, and hoped to be able to get something new and better. It turns out to have paid off; I sold the old one for a good price, and bought a new one for only about $20 more than I had earned from the sale of the old one.
What really impressed me, though, was the incredible speed of the transaction. I’ve had a year to grow accustomed to waiting four to six weeks for even the most basic of purchases to arrive. Not so with this! I ordered the monitor early yesterday afternoon, and less than 24 hours later it is sitting on my desk showing what I type.
As much as I dislike some aspects of America, I have to admit that it can be almost unbelievably convenient living here.
