Yesterday, I was sick enough that I was forced to stay home from work. This annoyed me; I much prefer to just fight through the sickness and work anyway, presenting the best facade of health I can manage. However, this particular illness manifested as a nose in preparation for a marathon, or perhaps a side job as a faucet; there was no way I could prevent my students from noticing that something was up. I was really lucky, though: the manager was very understanding, and even recommended a particular medicine.

This morning, the franchise owner’s wife showed up with a care package of traditional Japanese comfort food, plus more medicine. It was good, and I’m definitely feeling well enough to work today. Right now, though, what pleases me most is that the management here really seems to like me.
