It seems kind of odd to me that when I only want to use my computer to check webcomics, or other trivia that doesn’t actually matter, it’s actually relatively reliable. But when, say, I have a homework assignment due the next day and a hard bedtime so that I wake up in time for practice, it absolutely refuses to stay stable. It’s like it knows that the replacement is coming within the week, and aims to cause the maximum amount of trouble before it’s finally replaced.
I got the assignment done, though. My next door neighbor vertically offered me his computer, which works fine. Only issue I had there was that not only did he use a Dvorak keyboard layout, he had popped out the keys and rearranged them on the physical board. It worked out just fine once I figured out how to reset the input style to qwerty, though. I remember clearly when I didn’t have any sort of intuitive grasp of where a key should be, and would stop the ten-finger typing to hunt around for a single key every once in a while. I hadn’t realized how long ago that was, though, until last night. The worst part about it was remembering to align my hands in the correct places, as the f and j keys with the little bumps no longer indicated where my index fingers should rest.
Still, I can’t wait until the new computer comes in, so that I no longer have to consider two boot attempts before I manage to get into Windows relatively reliable.
