I may implement a ranking system for my webcomics directory, so that when something makes me laugh out loud, I can bump it up a level. This will solve the problem I have which is simply that I had to think out the order in which to put the comics and so it may not accurately reflect my preferences.
The reason I thought of this is simply that I saw this comic, which made me laugh, although the ones higher on the priority queue didn’t. It may not be quite as funny if you’re not caught up in the storyline, but it’s still a decent one-framer (for a comic that at last count contained 8 panels, plus text). So I thought of maybe bumping the comic up one notch in the list.
If you’re wondering what I’m talking about for all of this, it’s my webcomics directory. I don’t advertise its existence for two primary reasons. The first is simply that it’s still a work in progress, still buggy, and therefore maybe 10% of the comics actually load onto the page the way they’re supposed to. The rest I still have to click through. The other, more important reason is that I’m really not sure that this is legal. I’m figuring none of you will raise much of a complaint, nor would anybody. It’s just that if this sort of thing grew to a noticeable scale, it would probably piss off keenspace and all the other miscellaneous people who make money from their comics.
So enjoy the little script I wrote. That’s actually one of my projects this vacation: to fix it so that ideally all of the comics will properly load. Just don’t get people pissed off at me.
