I think I just realized something. For the last year at least, I’ve adopted an attitude that nothing can really hurt me, that even if things look bad with the world, its ok, because something good’s likely to happen. I’ve called this attitude Insane Self Confidence in the past, but that doesn’t really describe it. It’s more of the ingrained belief that you might as well be optimistic, because usually it’s possible to make anything turn out for the best.
Listening to this song today, I realized that that’s exactly the attitude that Smashmouth was talking about in this song. Moreover, I adopted this attitude shortly after first seeing the music video for this song.
It’s funny how a robust, well-balanced worldview can be culled from a pop song.
It’s funnier that I actually adopted my worldview from a pop song.
